3 Bible - Translations

The object of faith this week is the Bible.  There are lots of translations of the Bible.  On Sunday in England the translation in the Lectionary (the book with the readings for Mass) is the New Jerusalem Bible.  When the new Roman Missal was introduced (Advent 2011) the readings and translation in the Lectionary did not change.  However, the Liturgy Office says that:
A new publication of the Lectionary is in preparation. The selection of readings will remain the same but the text will be drawn from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.  The date of publication is not yet known.

The Bible has been translated into over 450 languages and some sections have been translated into over 2000 languages. The original versions of the Old testament were written in Hebrew and Aramaic and the New Testament was written in Greek.

Remember that during this coming week which is Half Term the Cathedral Parish Blog will have videos, colouring and songs linked to the Bible - related activities.
